The KA-BAR 1214 USMC is a legendary knife. In 1942, this knife was chosen by the United States Marine Corps to be the combat knife for the Marines. Since then, this knife has been part of the standard equipment of many soldiers. This is a large knife and it feels very sturdy. The handle has protective parts which keep you from getting close to the razor-sharp edge while using it. The blade is made out of 1095 carbon steel, which does not make this knife stainless. Luckily there is a black coating on the blade which makes maintenance a lot easier.

Very nice knife, initial impressions are that it is well balanced and made well. Seems very robust. Downside is that it had a poorly finished and relatively dull edge straight out of the box and i had to take it to my preferred sharpener for a 30minute hand hone to give it the edge it deserves.
