Shot Show 2019: the newest Spyderco pocket knives

One of the most exciting brands to follow is Spyderco. Each year they introduce amazing new models that wow the knife world. At the 2019 Shot Show this brand introduced dozens of knives we can expect in the coming year. With Wouter from Spyderco we selected a couple of these new models!

The Spyderco Para 3 lightweight

The fans asked for it, so here it is. The Spyderco Para 3 lightweight! Characterizing for the lightweight collection is the FRN handle: a glass reinforced plastic that is incredibly strong. These knives are incredibly light and as such very popular amongst pocket knife users. Previously the Para 3 was only produced with a steel liner construction with G10 handles on top. Considering its size the G10-Para 3 isn't a heavy knife. Spyderco, however, was able to make the new Para 3 even lighter. The Para 3 lightweight weighs only 68 grams. That is 28 grams less than the G10 version. The steel of the blade also transformed. The Para 3 has a blade made from CTS BD1N steel. A type of steel we often see on Spyderco's budget models. The new Para 3 lightweight will therefore also be a lot cheaper than the model enhanced with the S30V steel G10!

The Spyderco Bow River, designed by Phil Wilson

Another highlight within Spyderco's budget segment is the new Bow River. A very interesting and affordable knife with 8cr13MoV steel, designed by world-famous knife maker Phil Wilson. Remarkable about the Bow River is that, in general, Spyderco doesn't have that many budget fixed knives. As such the Bow River is a fun entry-level model to the world of fixed knives. Thanks to the slim and thin blade the Bow River is perfect for preparing food while camping or hunting. A nice detail is the G10 handle that is made from different layers of coloured G10. The Spyderco Bow River comes with a top-quality leather sheath.

The Spyderco Paysan, Drunken and the Abel Reels Native 5s-collection

2019 is a diverse year for Spyderco. In addition to budget knives we will soon be able to enjoy phenomenal knives such as the Paysan, designed by Peter Rassenti, and the Drunken, designed by Dimitri Sinkevich. Both knives are made from top-quality materials such as S90V steel, titanium and carbon fibre. The Paysan has been enhanced with a stunning integral handle and the Drunken with a carbon fibre handle with a unique wavy pattern.

This year Spyderco also cooperated with Abel Reels. A company which produces some of the best fishing gear in the world. This gear is enhanced with a uniquely simulated scales pattern which can now also be found on the new Abel Reels Native 5s. Wouter convinced the Spyderco team to take these fragile prototypes from the display case. The video below is therefore definitely worth a look! Words can hardly describe how amazing these handles are.

We hope we will quickly have these new models in stock. In the meantime we will be posting multiple topics about the Shot Show and the newest products. Stay tuned!
