The **Autine Bushman** is a very robust axe, designed by Ryan Farrow. This design is the result of a design contest which Autine introduced in 2015. Over 70 different designs were sent to the Autine forge in Latvia. The design of the Australian Ryan Farrow was the model that finally took first place. In honour of his Australian roots this model was called the Bushman.


The Autine Bushman is an axe that doesn't only look amazing, it is also incredibly functional. Perfectly finished and razor-sharp upon delivery. This axe has a head that is thick enough for splitting work, an edge thin enough to produce kindle and it is heavy enough for the more demanding chopping tasks. Simply a superior axe. Forged by hand in Latvia.



The axe head of the Autine Hatchet is made from laminated steel. The cutting edge is made from instrument steel with a high carbon content. Hardened up to 59-60HRC, which is relatively hard for an axe. The core is enclosed by softer steel. This softer steel will absorb the blows so that the cutting edge can be a little harder. The edge itself is razor-sharp. You don't often come across an axe that is so sharp. The edge is polished as if it is the edge of an outdoor knife. And even in that class it will excel in terms of sharpness. As the name might already suggest the rest of the head has a *brut de forge* finish: unpolished.



The elm wood handle is, in terms of ergonomics, a real winner. The large curve at the end of the handle might look like a bit 'much'. When you hold this Bushman, however, you will know that it is absolutely perfect. The balance is great and because the **flare** the handle will definitely be locked in your hand.



The Autine Bushman comes with a simple leather sheath. The sheath protects the cutting edge. Or rather, with this razor-sharp edge it will protect you.
