The Bark River Bravo EDC is the compact version of the famous Bravo. In terms of shape the knife is the same, only a little smaller. Perfect for daily use, hence the addition of 'EDC' to the name. This stands for Every Day Carry. For this purpose the size is perfect.
The blade is made from A2 tool steel. A strong type of steel that would rather bend than break. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: A2 is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by stropping it.
The handle is made from a very remarkable material: pinecone. This is a pinecone that was cast in epoxy resin. A unique process that ensures that each knife made from this material is unique. It is also virtually impossible to make sure the left and right side of the handle are the same. The material has its own natural imperfections, think of small holes and noticeable flaws. You, however, immediately forget those when you look at the material: it is truly spectacular.
The Bark River Bravo EDC comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it both straight (belt width up to 5.5 cm) and diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm).
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
