This **Böker steak knife 03AP003** has a blade made from 4116-steel and a very special handle made from valuable bog oak. The partially serrated blade also stands out. It is the perfect table knife you don't necessarily only need to use to cut meat.

 ## Striking serrated pattern

 The pattern of the edge has a remarkable The tip has a clearly visible serration, which becomes smaller at the belly of the knife. The end of the edge, at the side of the crop, is, however, a full 'plain edge'. As such you combine the corrosion resistance of the serrated structure with the absolute sharpness of a straight edge.

 ## Ancient bog oak

 The handle, however, is what makes this steak knife even more special. It is namely made from bog oak, a type of wood that is, on average, over 5000 years old. Because the bog oak lies in the mud, without coming into contact with oxygen, it can be preserved for thousands of years without it starting to rot.

 The characteristic dark-brown colour of bog oak is the result of a chemical reaction between the tannins in the oak wood and iron in the ground. When bog oak is removed from the ground it needs to be left to carefully dry to make sure the wood won't damage. After all, as it dries it will lose about half of its weight and about a third of its size. The result is a stunning piece of very hard wood, which can definitely be called a piece of history.
