This green **Combekk 28 cm cast-iron frying pan** with jabota-wooden handle is a very special Dutch product made from Dutch train tracks. When you see the box for the first time you immediately know you are dealing with a unique product. The Combekk pan is namely made from 100% recycled material. Thanks to the top-quality cast-iron you can enjoy its stunning design for life.

This solid cast-iron pan is very versatile.​ Cooking, roasting, baking, stewing or even frying: it is all possible. Cast-iron can namely retain heat, but also cold, for a very long time. As such the pan is also great to keep dishes cool or frozen in the fridge or freezer. Once cooled the pan could, for instance, be used as a serving dish on hot summer's day. Because the handle is made from wood the pan cannot be used in the oven.

The even enamel finish ensures a very smooth surface, making cleaning the pan very easy. The cast-iron makes the perfect distribution of heat a possibility. ## Combekk pans: steel that comes with a story

The establishment of Combekk comes with a great story that needs to be told! The bottom of the lid shows you that you are dealing with a typical Dutch product. The pans are made from old bridges, buildings, vehicles or, as in this case, even train tracks. Each pan has its own story: the origin of the material is cast on the base of the pan.

All Combekk pans have a functional and hip design and are top-quality products because of the right mix of materials. This is all possible thanks to the special melting furnace that is located in Doetinchem in the Achterhoek. Tough and ecological have found each other in the form of these sustainable and robust cast-iron pans!

## Pans with no PFAS, PFOA or PTFE

The abbreviation PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. These are man-made substances that do not naturally occur in the environment. Some examples of PFAS are GenX, PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) and PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acids). PFAS is an umbrella term for all these substances, which are used in many products, including frying pans, grill pans and wok pans. PFAS have useful properties: among other things, they are repellent to water, grease and dirt. However, we now know that PFAS are harmful to health. 

Teflon is the commercial name for various plastic fluoropolymers, such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). PFAS is used to make these plastic fluoropolymers. Teflon provides the product with a water-repellent and dirt-repellent layer, and it is also heat-resistant. PTFE also allows two surfaces to slide over each other easily. That is why PTFE is found in pans with a non-stick coating. In other words: they're all the same thing. **This pan is free from PFAS, PFOA and PTFE**.
