In Norse mythology, Idun was the goddess of fertility, and responsible for guarding the apples that ensured the gods eternal youth.  

To many, she was also a symbol of love and rebirth, and in a poem she was referred to as the lover of the gods (ása leika).  

Unlike earlier models in the Northern Lights series, NL5 is a little rounder and softer in form, and therefore an excellent choice as a hunting knife.  

The straight, fairly generous grip in leather gives complete control over the powerful blade in laminate VG10 steel, and makes the knife a tool as attractive as it is effective in the hands of the experienced hunter.

Ooit een droom van mij om deze te hebben en uiteindelijk gekocht.

Het mes is prachtig en prima in gebruik. 

Ontzettend duur voor het materiaal waarvan het mes gemaakt is. Dat wel.

Waarschijnlijk een van de mooiste messen ooit. De Idun heeft veel weg van de F1:  Geheel convex geslepen droppoint zonder overgangen of 'false edge'. 
Qua uitstraling en uitvoering doen de Northern Light messen van Fällkniven denken aan de klassieke jachtmessen van Randall, Marbles en Blackjack. Messen met een tijdloze uitstraling.
Idun is ondanks haar fraaie uiterlijk een echt gebruiksmes. De fraaie lederen handgreep is weliswaar iets voller dan die van de iets grotere Frej (NL4), maar biedt niet dezelfde houvast als het thermorun van bijvoorbeeld de eerder genoemde F1. 
Daarentegen zal die handgreep wel donkerder worden en een eigen karakter verwerven.
Ik ben erg blij met de Idun.

Een prachtig mes waar ik zo nu en dan gewoon alleen even naar kijk. Had er al jaren zin in en dan nu gekocht. Had al een F1 maar die zag er na jaren gebruik gehavend uit. Prachtig heft, stevig convex lemmet van super staal. Meteen ook een stropping set gekocht. Gebruik het als jachtmes en heb er inmiddels mijn eerste ree mee ontweid. Ging door huid en bot heen als boter. Erg tevreden.
