The **Fox Knives Radius FX-550 DCF** is a remarkable pocket knife. At the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia US this knife won an award for the best imported knife, and for *Overall Knife of the Year*. That is already special to begin with, but with this Limited Edition Fox has decided to take things up a notch. Exceptional materials and unique packaging. But more about that later. Only 15 pieces were made of this model. So yes, a very limited edition knife.


Aside from the beautiful materials and an exclusive character the Fox Knives Radius is truly a revolutionary pocket knife. The thumb stud is incorporated in the handle and also serves as a lock. Very unique! By pressing the thumb stud you unlock the knife to make sure you can close it. No one has ever done that! And crazily enough it is one of those inventions that makes you think: why has no one ever thought of that?


## Damacore blade


We already mentioned it just now: exclusive materials. Fox Knives definitely outdid themselves here. The blade is made from Damacore damasteel from the Swedish damasteel manufacturer. The original Damasteel is starting to become well-known in the knife world, but Damacore is relatively new. It is actually the famous Damasteel (comprised of RWL34 and PMF27-steel) with a core of N11X steel in between.


Many letters and numbers, but what does it mean? It means that Damacore is comprised of three types of powder metallurgical steel. This is a type of steel with an incredibly fine structure at a microscopic level which ensures that it stays nice and sharp. RWL34 and PMF27 are stainless types of steel that together form the irregular pattern on the sides. The N11X core is a completely different story. This type of steel is namely a part of the exclusive club of ‘nitrogen steels’. This means that the steel contains little carbon, but a lot of nitrogen. As such the steel retains its sharpness well, but is less sensitive to rust. Damacore was introduced in 2019 and is mainly used by producers of exclusive custom knives. Fox is one of the first production companies that has produced a ‘production knife’ with this type of steel.


So a cool blade. But what about the handle? It is made from carbon fibre. Something we have seen before. The difference, however, is that this carbon fibre is enhanced with copper. Not the threads you sometimes come across, but it looks like a liquid form of copper was woven into the carbon fibre. Stunning! It also looks great in combination with the copper-coloured screws, pocket-clip and thumb stud.


## Cool packaging


Such a unique knife needs a cool box. A luxurious gift box with a drawer that contains the knife. But on top you find something very unique: the remaining piece of Damacore the knife was cut from! Numbered even! It is a very cool way to complete the whole. In the bottom of the box you will find a luxurious leather sheath, made from fine Italian leather.


With only 15 pieces this is a very limited production run. Only available while stocks last.
