The **Gränsfors Bruk American Felling Axe** is a large felling axe. This axe is ideal for felling sturdy trees and for processing a felled tree. With a hefty weight and a long handle, this axe offers a lot of power! The axe comes with a high-quality leather sheath.




Gränsfors axes are hand-forged by talented craftsmen. Production relies heavily on the craftsmanship and experience of these blacksmiths. What is unique about Gränsfors axes, is that each smith stamps their own initials into the axe head. This allows you to see who made your specific axe. 

In terms of steel, Gränsfors exclusively uses recycled steel from Ovako. This is a type of carbon steel, which means it is tough and hard enough for use as an axe head. At the same time, it means that the axe head is not corrosion resistant, so make sure to clean it after use and apply a coat of oil from time to time.



The handle of this axe is made of American hickory wood, a very strong wood that is particularly suitable for absorbing blows. This makes it an ideal material for handles of axe and hammers.

Dit is geen bijltje om snel die kerstboom, die al een paar jaar in de tuin staat en een beetje te groot geworden is, om te hakken.
Dit is ook niet de bijl om een paar kleine takken van een boom af te hakken.
Dat is namelijk zoals een jachtgeweer gebruiken om een mug te doden namelijk vragen om ongelukken.
(Voor deze taken gebruik je beter een Hultafors hakbijl Åby of soortgelijke bijl)

Deze felling axe heeft maar 1 nut en dat is om grote, stevige bomen te vellen! Maar laat dat dan ook de toepassing zijn waarin deze hakbijl schittert. Met zijn lengte van 90cm en gewicht van 2400g zet deze bijl ongelofelijk veel kracht en is het een echt plezier om een boom te vellen. De steel vangt de impact vibratie ook mooi op zodat je armen niet zo snel moe worden. Dus ja, voor het zware werk is dit echt een fantastische bijl.

De afwerking is top, wat ook wel mag voor deze prijs, en de hakbijl wordt geleverd met een degelijk foedraal.

Ik heb de steel nog even wat behandeld met bijenwas want het hout voelde een beetje droog aan. Op zich geen probleem. Iemand die zo'n bijl gebruikt moet deze ook kunnen onderhouden.
(Vergeet ook niet om de kop van de bijl regelmatig van een laagje olie te voorzien om het tegen roest te beschermen.)

Zoals gezegd zou ik deze bijl zeker aanraden aan mensen die effectief regelmatig grote bomen vellen en die weten hoe ze dit veilig moeten doen. Voor anderen raad ik een lichtere bijl aan.
