The **Leatherman Wave Alpha Obsidian** is a versatile multitool with some nice improvements over the immensely popular Leatherman Wave. The MagnaCut steel blade, black G10 handle scales and considerably larger, spring-loaded scissors are striking.

## Leatherman Wave Alpha tools

The Leatherman Wave Alpha features a host of highly practical and functional tools. All tools are locked when opened. The knife, file, bit holder and saw can be used without opening the Wave. 

### Pliers

You can open the pliers by opening the handles. The jaws are enhanced with small serrations that offer you additional grip. The tip is small enough for precise work, such as bending fish hooks or removing splinters. The back of the jaws are rounded to make sure you can easily move around in narrow spaces and bend the wire. The pair of pliers is enhanced with an interchangeable wire cutter. This allows you to sharpen the edges separately or to replace them. The wire cutter is also great for cutting small sticks and stems. Good pliers come in handy more often than you might think!

### MagnaCut blade

The blade is made from CPM 3V steel with a black DLC coating. It's perhaps one of the most revolutionary steels of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. The shape of the blade is suitable for all kinds of cutting jobs. You open the blade one-handed from the outside of the tool with the thumb stud. The knife has a blade length of approx 7 cm. Because the blade is only 2.5 mm thick, it slices really well.

### Scissors

The spring scissors have received a major upgrade. And you can tell: they're bigger, sturdier and more pleasant to use. Perfect for cutting open packages and other everyday cutting work.

### Wood saw

The solid serrations cover approximately 6.5 cm of the saw blade. Branches the size of a wrist are therefore easy to get through. The saw is thin. The spine is approx. 1 mm thick and the serrations are 1.2 mm thick. Because the spine is smaller than the teeth, the saw won't get stuck in the wood, and it limits friction. However, this saw can handle fresh wood as well as pallets and shelves. When gardening and working around the house the Wave is a true life-saver!

### File

The file has two sides. One side has a diamond coating for sharpening. This is handy if you quickly need to sharpen your axe in the field, for example. The other side is a metal file. This is ideal for removing burrs from steel, or filing away wood.

### Bit driver

The small bit driver comes standard with a [crosshead and flat screwdriver bit](/en/pt/-leatherman-bits-931024-phillips-screwdriver-ph1ph2-and-flathead-screwdriver-316-3-pieces.htm). With this bit set you will always have a matching screw head close. This bit driver matches with all Leatherman bits from the bit kit.
