The **MKM Malga 6** is a high-end pocket knife, in the style of the famous Swiss pocket knives. And yet this knife is produced a little more south: in Maniago, Italy. It is made from amazing materials.



With many of these types of knives the emphasis is placed on the different tools. The type of steel used is never highlighted. MKM turned this around for the Malga 6. The tools are great, but the blade stands out. The blade is made from Böhler M390 Steel. An extremely wear and tear and corrosion resistant type of steel. It retains its sharpness well to make sure you don't have to sharpen it often. As such the MKM Malga 6 is a top-quality, high-end EDC pocket knife.



The handle also looks amazing. Often these types of knives are enhanced with a handle made from plastic or aluminium. Maybe G10. But MKM decided to use stunning micarta for this handle. This is a composite material made from canvas and synthetic resin. It looks great and offers enough grip. But even better is the patina this micarta forms: because of the greases in your hands it can change colour a little. As such each knife will become unique!



In addition to the blade there are five other foldable tools. A bottle opener with screw driver, a can opener, corkscrew, awl and a fork for during a picnic. All tools can be opened with two hands. They are kept in place by slipjoints. So not a real lock. Only resistance. As such the MKM Malga 6 is legal in many countries.



## Where does MKM Knives come from?


MKM is a cooperation between Viper, LionSteel, Fox and Mercury. Four masters working in the Italian knife industry. It is no coincidence that they all come from the city: Maniago, northern Italy. The knife capital of the south of Europe. MKM stands for Maniago Knife Makers. This MKM Malga is made by Mercury.

Hochwertiger Stahl der Messerklinge. Etwas größer als ein Victorinox Taschenmesser. Preislich etwas überzogen.

Couteau de poche complet, l'ouvre-boites gagnerait à être du côté gauche, afin d'être utilisable avec les grandes boites ou les boites rectangulaires. Pour le reste, il est très bien fini et devrait durer très longtemps.

Ce "couteau suisse" revisité est juste magnifique, il mesure 9 mm de plus en longueur qu'un couteau Victorinox traditionnel. Sa lame est très belle et très tranchante, son ouvre boîte à l'ancienne me fait penser à la défunte marque Wenger, sa fourchette est trop mignonne elle est parfaite pour manger du fromage du saucisson ou autre, le tournevis est assez fin (4 mm de large), le poinçon n'est pas aiguisé et ne doit pas l'être sous risque de le fragiliser. Sa lame ainsi que tous ses outils ont étés fabriqués en acier Böhler M390 ce qui leur garanti une grande longévité. Ses plaquettes en Micarta vert sont du plus bel effet. Son seul "petit défaut" se situe au niveau de certaines encoches pour ouvrir les outils avec ses ongles, certaines d'entre elles ne sont pas assez larges / profondes mais on fini par s'y habituer. A la livraison il manquait cruellement d'huile, ce qui n'est pas vraiment un problème en soit. Il est tellement beau qu'on aurait l'envie de s'en racheter un :)

Dit zakmes gekocht uit nieuwsgierigheid (vooral naar dat vorkje !) en het bevalt. Het bevalt héél goed.
Je voelt & ziet meteen dat het mes uit/van beter staal is dan dat van de gewone Vectorinox- en de Swiza-messen. 
De andere tools zijn klassiek maar de els mocht scherper en/of een snijvlakje hebben.
Zéér mooie & goede "scales".
Bij de levering geurde dit mesje héérlijk. Door/naar de gebruikte olie.
