The **TOPS Nata TNAT-01** is a cool machete, based on the classic Japanese Nata machetes. The rectangular blade, with its perfectly straight edge is remarkable. Because it weighs 600 grams you can do quite a lot with the TOPS Nata. Because half of the 1095 carbon steel blade is at full thickness, it is incredibly strong. A fun TOPS detail is the way the tip on the spine of the blade is designed. The subtle bevelled edges truly add to the knife. 

 The handle is made from burlap micarta. A strong composite material made from burlap and synthetic resin. This material 'lives' a little. The grease in your hands is absorbed by the material which means that in time the knife will become completely your own. It feels great in hand.

 The TOPS Knives Nata comes with a nice leather sheath with press stud. The belt loop has room for belts up to 5.0 cm.

Zunächst war ich ob der Größe und des Gewichtes verunsichert. Die schwere Leder Steckscheide macht einen sehr soliden Eindruck. Die / das Nata wurde sehr stramm darin gehalten. Was in der Anfangszeit das Ziehen erschwerte. Das gab sich aber nach einiger Zeit des Nutzens, sodass jetzt alles wunderbar funktioniert. 
Das große Messer habe ich nun gut eine Woche in Finnland im Gebrauch gehabt. 
Dort habe ich rund ums Haus ( auf einer Insel, ohne Wasser und Strom ) alle möglichen Arbeiten, vom Anzündholz spalten über diverse andere Holzarbeiten bis hin zu allgemeinen handwerklichen Tätigkeiten mit dieser Klinge verrichtet. 
Und, ich kann dieses Messer ( ich empfinde es nicht als Machete, da die Nata dafür viel zu präzise eingesetzt werden kann ) nur wärmstens empfehlen.  Selbst nach dieser Woche konnte ich noch vernünftig Salami schneiden.
Ja, es ist ein Hau- und Hackmesser. 
Das aber auch gut für „feinere“ Sachen einzusetzen ist. 
Klare Empfehlung für jmd der was zum Gebrauchen sucht.
