I followed the instructions regarding soaking in water and proceeded with repair and sharpening. 400 grit is good for repair of pitting and dents and also shaping the edge. 2000 grit is for refining the prepared edge. With care and patient use the stone will give a good usable edge. Recommended for domestic use.
