Knives magnet of thermo beech-wood. Length: 40 cm.


These knives magnet consists of a solid wooden ' bar ' with a magnetic strip inside. This strip is softer than a ' normal ' knives magnet, leaving no risk for damaging the knives. And because the whole strip is magnetic, the knives can be placed on any desired location on this strip.  
   


The wood of this knife magnet is heat treated beech wood. This is insensitive for elongation and shrinkage. The wood is 'baked' at a temperature between 180 and 220 degrees Celsius, giving it this dark chic look. The wood is completely impregnated by this treatment, making it impervious to water.

Wat is de andere review terug te lezen is dat kan ik bevestigen: het is een mooi product maar met een zeer zwakke magneet.

Ik heb deze magneethouder van Wüsthof besteld vanwege zijn mooie materialen en hoogwaardige voorkomen. Na de, zoals altijd, snelle levering blijkt dat ook de afwerking op het niveau is zoals je die bij Wüsthof zou verwachten. Daarnaast is de functionaliteit goed aangezien de magneethouder perfect mijn messen 'vasthoudt' zonder dat deze draaien of wegglijden. 
Wederom blij verrast met mijn aankoop!

Ooit had ik een magneetstrip van een bekend Scandinavisch bedrijf. Goedkoop, bepaald niet mooi, maar als ik metalen voorwerpen grofweg in de richting van het ding gooide (goed, ik overdrijf ;), werden deze met een stevige KLOENG gegrepen en zaten vast.

Toen mijn vrouw zich bezorgd afvroeg of deze fraaie magneet van Wüsthof onze messen wel stevig vast zouden houden, moest ik wat lachen om haar naïviteit en hing het ding direct in onze nieuwe keuken.

Maar helaas. Het product ziet er weliswaar net zo chic uit als de foto’s hier doen geloven, maar hij is absoluut niet sterk. Mijn koksmes en vleesmes houdt de magneet wel, maar niet erg overtuigend. Ik maakte me direct zorgen of ze wel zouden blijven hangen als ik er per ongeluk tegenaan zou tikken (en het zijn geen exclusieve, zware messen, in tegendeel zelfs).

Maar de grootste teleurstelling kwam nog: mijn Zwilling broodmes zakte gewoon weer van de magneet af!

Kortom: het is een prachtig ding om te zien, maar voor de rest volslagen waardeloos. Ik heb de magneet dus weer teruggestuurd, waarbij overigens bleek dat de service van KnivesAndTools in tegenstelling tot dit product perfect is.
