The **DMT DuoSharp Plus WM8FC** sharpening stone is a large, double-sided diamond-coated sharpening stone that is great when sharpening large knives. A part of the sharpening surface is enhanced with the famous circular DMT pattern, and a small part is completely closed. This part enables you to sharpen small chisels or other small objects without them getting stuck in the holes. Both sides of the sharpening stone are enhanced with a different grain size (fine and coarse). The grain size can be recognized by the blue and red dot.

## DMT DuoSharp sharpening stone holder

This sharpening stone comes with a plastic base that secures the sharpening stone. Even the simple plastic clamp turns out to be an ingenious aid. Not only can this holder be used with sharpening stones that are 6, 8 or 10 inches long, but the holder itself can also be used in two ways. The usual way is that the base ensures the sharpening stone doesn't slip during use. This allows you to focus purely on the sharpening process. There is also a handle at the bottom of the holder that you can use when taking the stone towards the object you're sharpening. One example would be an axe that is clamped in a vice.

## Information about the grain sizes of DMT sharpening stones.

The grain size of a diamond-coated stone and a whetstone cannot easily be compared. This is because the construction and materials used are substantially different. With a whetstone, the sharpening grains are incorporated into the stone. These grains are also released from the stone during use and become some kind of sharpening paste. With a diamond-coated stone, the diamonds are secured in the surface of the stone.

## How to use the DMT DuoSharp

You can use the DMT sharpening stones with or without water. The advantage of sharpening with water is that the stone is lubricated and the sharpening residue is removed. Never use oil, always water. It's also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening stone needs to be pre-sharpened. A brand-new diamond sharpening stone removes quite a lot of material. Only after 5 to 10 knives does the stone have its final effect.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden, kann nun alle Messergrößen bestens schleifen. Besonders hilfreich ist der Sockel auf dem die Schleiffläche ruht.

Excellent product at a good price. I now wish I’d bought 2 - an extra coarse/coarse and a fine/extra fine which would cover the full range from damaged edge to fine finish.
