Rolling oak wood knife sharpener with a 15 degree fixed sharpening angle

The **HORL knife sharpener oak wood** is an exceptionally interesting rolling knife sharpener that was made in the Black Forest in Germany. With this sharpener you no longer move the knife over the sharpening stone, but move the stone over the knife. The knife sharpener is comprised of a rolling sharpener and a magnetic base that holds the knife in a fixed 15 degree angle. As such this sharpener is mostly meant for all large and small kitchen knives.

 ### Made in the Black Forest

 At HORL they do everything themselves. From the selection of the wood to the final assembly of the sharpener. HORL selects the best wood and dries it in special ovens up to 7-8% humidity, to guarantee maximum quality. Because of the wood used and the manual labour each HORL product is unique. Of course produced with the highest precision and quality.

 ### The rolling sharpener

 The knife sharpener is a solid cylinder comprised of wood and steel. The massive wood part of the rolling sharpener moves separately from the steel part and the sharpening stones. As you push the sharpener forward the stones will rotate. The wooden part doesn't rotate which means you can easily hold the cylinder during the sharpening process. You can easily remove the sharpening stones from the sharpener by turning them to the left.

 **Tip:**add some tape to the blade or on the side of the magnetic base. As such you prevent potential scratches on the blade of your knife!

 The rolling sharpener has one diamond-coated side and a stainless steel part that serves as a honing steel. The diamond-coated stone has a grain of approximately J400 and is, as such, perfect when quickly sharpening a blunt knife. The stainless steel part smoothens the edge after sharpening it and the grooves remove any burrs and metal parts.

 Additional sharpening stones are also available.  ### The magnetic base

 The wooden base has a fixed 15 degree sharpening angle on both sides. One side for knives with a low blade like peeling knives and the other side for knives with a high blade like a chef's knife. The 15 degree sharpening angle is great for kitchen knives. It offers ultimate sharpness and sharpness retention for all tasks in the kitchen. Even if your knife doesn't have a 15 degree sharpening angle, or if you don't know which angle your knife has, you can easily use this knife sharpener. By using the sharpener your knife will namely automatically get the 15 degree sharpening angle. It can, however, take a while to change the sharpening angle! However, once your knife has reached that 15 degree angle, sharpening it will take mere minutes!

 The bottom of the magnetic base has four rubber feet to make sure the holder and the knife don't move as you sharpen your knife.

 ### Sharpening serrated knives

 In addition to regular kitchen knives you can also sharpen serrated knives. Bread knives for instance. For it you, however, don't need the magnetic base. The serrations on a bread knife are often not 15 degrees and you cannot adjust the sharpening angle of a bread knife.

 Hold the knife in hand and rotate the sharpener to make sure only the edge of the stone hits the edge. Turn the knife to make sure you sharpen the edge and roll, as you hold the sharpener at an angle, the sharpener alongside the serrated knife. Very bad service. 2 months delayed shipping. The product was shipped from the Netherlands instead of being shipped within UK. Overall it was a not at all satisfying experience neither with knivesandtools nor with their dutch partner Kato Group.

Très bel article, fabrication de qualité, très simple à utiliser et très efficace.

Am Anfang dachte ich: Gimick und auch noch teuer. Habe ihm aber bei meinem Schwiegersohn gesehen und getestet. Hochwertig und auch ziemlich präzise. Bestellt und gleich verwendet. Böse Fehler. So einen tiefen Schnitt habe ich bekommen als ich checkte wie mit der Schärfe ausschaut. Fazit :möchte es nicht mehr missen. Einfach zu verwenden, nur beim ersten schleifen brauch man mehr Geduld und Ausdauer. Danach geht's flott. Ein Männer(Spiel)werkzeug.
