As je als linkshandige niet het budget hebt om een linkshandig Chris Reeve zakmes te kopen kom je al vlug uit bij Spyderco of Benchmade. Van Spyderco had ik al een aantal zakmessen (Dragonfly 2, Delica 4, Native 5, Lil' Native, Manix-2, Chaparral, waar ik overigens zeer tevreden van ben), maar een Benchmade had ik nog niet.

Ik was specifiek op zoek naar een zakmes dat robuust genoeg is om wat zwaardere taken aan te kunnen, maar ook nog stijlvol en elegant genoeg om als 'herenmes' geclassificeerd te kunnen worden. Daarom vielen andere modellen zoals de Osborne 940 (te groot) of de Valet (te weinig stijlvol) uit de boot, en koos ik uiteindelijk voor deze Foray 698.

Ben ik tevreden? Zeker weten. Het mes ligt zeer goed in de hand, de afwerking is tot in het kleinste detail verzorgd, openen met de duimsteun gaat bijzonder vlot en sluiten gaat al even makkelijk met de Axis-lock. 20CV is een prima staal, dat het een grotere uitdaging wordt na te slijpen door de lichte recurve neem ik er in dit geval graag bij, in mijn ogen (maar dat is subjectief uiteraard) ziet de Foray er net dankzij die recurve bijzonder mooi uit.

Slotsom: niet goedkoop, maar je krijgt wel waar voor je geld. Ook het graveren van het lemmet door K&T was overigens prima gedaan!

Perfect mes! Toen ik het in handen kreeg was ik meteen onder de indruk.
Erg goede kwaliteit.

Het axis lock werkt erg goed, het mes vliegt open en net zo snel weer dicht. De pocketclip is ook erg goed. Het mes voelt heel degelijk aan.
