The Buck Momentum 294 is an American pocket knife with assisted opening. This means that the blade is helped by a spring when you open the knife via the thumb stud or flipper. The back of the handle has an extra blocking mechanism, to make sure it does not open inadvertently. So before you can open the knife, it must be unlocked.

The anodized aluminum handle also has some grip tape to provide extra friction. The deep-carry pocket clip (which can be removed) allows you to discretely carry the knife around.

een kant van de rubber grip laat los en het mes is niet mooi gecenterd met inklappen loopt het lemmet bijna langs het frame

Grund für meinen Kauf war der äußerst robuste Stahl, den man in kaum einem Messer unter 100€ findet. Dieszezüglich gibt es auch keinerlei Beschwerden, der S30V ist und bleibt einfach lange scharf.

Große Abzüge gibt es für die Verarbeitung. Das Messer verfügt über eine Einhandöffnung. Diese wird durch eine Nase am Messerrücken ausgelöst, durch eine zusätzliche Feder soll das Öffnen unterstützt werden. Im Realfall kann das Messer so aber nur mit dem Zeigefinger geöffnet werden, was sich für Menschen mit großen Händen als recht unkomfortabel herausstellt. Verantwortlich hierfür sind aufzuwende Kraft, Größe und Position der Nase.
Die Öffnungsverriegelung am Rücken tut ihren Job hingegen wie erwartet.
Ein weiterer Makel ist das Scharnier. Drückt man die im Griff eingebettete Arretierung im geöffneten Zustand herunter, um die Klinge zu lösen, bemerkt man ein extremes Spiel. An der Spitze schlägt die Klinge gut und gerne 5mm aus. Ist sie arretiert, verringert sich das Spiel deutlich. Auch besagte Feder im Scharnier macht unliebsame Geräusche, über die man allerdings großmütig hinwegsehen kann.

Ich hoffe, dass ich mit meinem Exemplar nur Montagsstück erwischt habe. Ein derbes Arbeitstier ist das Buck 294 Momentum allemal.

Ik had te hoge verwachtingen van dit zakmes. Ik zocht een vervanger voor mijn verloren Buck Vantage Pro.
De centrering van het mes is zo slecht dat het lemmet bij dichtklappen langs de liners schraapt. Na bijstellen zat het mes zo vast dat het niet meer open wou en bovendien nog steeds niet gecentreerd zat. Buck onwaardig in mijn beleving.
Hij ligt nu in m'n viskoffertje maar "edc", laat maar.

Erg goed mes, niet te groot maar zeker ook niet te klein.
De opening hulp werkt prima, een goed systeem.
En een lemmet van S30v staal is prima.
Voor een geschikte prijs nog geen 90 euro, meestal zijn messen met S30v staal veel duurder.
