The Buck Model 119 Hunting Special Cocobolo is a very beautiful fixed blade hunting knife. The regular 119 Special model is world famous, but this special edition has a handle made out of cocobolo-wood. It's a beautiful version with a very luxureous appearance.  
  


The knife comes in a sturdy, leather sheath. This sheath has a push button to secure the knife into the sheath. It also features a belt loop.

De Buck 119 special is een iconisch mes, de cocobolo-variant zag er wel nog iets luxer uit dus daarom die uitvoering besteld. 
Het mes ligt ontzettend fijn in de hand, de pommel en stootplaat omvatten de vingers goed en zijn in messing uitgevoerd en dat geeft wel een erg luxe uitstraling. De greep van hoogglans gepolijst cocobolo hout is super mooi afgewerkt en ligt prima in de hand. 
Het mes was vlijmscherp bij aflevering, razor sharp. Je ziet aan het lemmet dat er aandacht wordt besteed aan de afwerking en kwaliteit. Het Bos-geharde 420HC staal zou lang scherp moeten blijven, iets wat we gaan meemaken.
Toevallig kreeg ik de 75th anniversary uitvoering, te herkennen aan een klein schildje in de handgreep en de stempel in de schede. Die is uitgevoerd in mooi donkerbruin leder met een kunststoffen insert, waardoor je niet in de schede snijdt als je het mes erin steekt. De lus waarmee het mes wordt vastgezet valt volledig over de handgreep waardoor de pommel en de stootplaat zichtbaar blijven, heel mooi. De kwaliteit van de schede is ook uitstekend, waar veel merken het laten afweten.
Al met al een bijzonder fraai mes, fijn gewicht en goede balans en duidelijke kwaliteit. Hier gaan we nog veel plezier aan hebben, al zal het zonde lijken om zo'n mooi mes te gebruiken. Voor de prijs hoef je het echter niet te laten!

Mooi, robuust en scherp mes van Buck, in fraaie lederen schede. Vooral gebruikt als verzamelobject. Ik zal het zeker meenemen voor outdoor activiteiten waar van toepassing. Keurige gravering onder de guard. Ik ben heel tevreden en kan het mes aan iedereen die een mooi en functioneel mes zoekt, aanraden.

This is a beautifully made knife with lovely wood and brass handle. The sheath is lovely and thick leather which has a wonderfully strong new leather smell. It is so nice that I don't really want to use it just admire it.
