The **Hogue X5 3.5”** is a rugged pocket knife, designed by Allen Elishewitz. It is a button lock flipper, which is a fairly unusual combination. You open the X5 with the flipper and a button lock holds the blade in place. 



As you would expect from Hogue, a veritable handle manufacturer, the X5 feels fantastic in the hand. The side of the handle is inlaid with a beautiful piece of G10 for extra grip. The finger grooves ensure that your grip is rock-solid. The blade is made of CPM154 steel and has a black Cerakote coating. It's razor-sharp and has an appealing shape. 




Because the Hogue X5 has a button lock and opens with a flipper, the detent (which keeps the blade in place when closed) is an important feature. With a frame lock, the lockbar provides the detent. But with a button lock, there is no detent. Hogue has sought out a different solution to this problem, so the X5 flips differently than other knives. Which is a special experience.




With its X5, Hogue has brought a pocket knife into the top segment of the market. In form, function, materials and finish, it's nothing short of fantastic!

Un véritable désastre ergonomique. Les protubérances tout autour du manche sont douloureuses, sans parler de la gouttière qui est carrément affûtée au niveau de l'encoche où repose l'index.

L'ouverture par flipper manque de conviction et le button lock a tendance à coller si on ouvre le couteau trop fort.

Le second verrouillage interroge: le button lock est-il si peu fiable?

La lame est beaucoup trop haute et n'autorise aucun autre mouvement que des coupes bien droites.

Enfin, le tarif est complètement délirant au regard des matériaux: CPM 154 et aluminium.
