The **Pro-Tech Malibu 5206** is a solid, no-nonsense EDC pocket knife. It has a cool reverse tanto blade shape and a slim handle. The Malibu is made to handle all day-to-day tasks without any problems.

## Pro-Tech button lock

Pro-Tech is known for their button lock mechanism. Possibly the best on the market in terms of performance. You open the blade with the flipper, then the lock locks the blade in place. Due to the natural position of your thumb next to the lock when you open the blade, the blade can also be closed quickly with the button lock. The action is super smooth thanks to the ceramic ball bearings — it strongly encourages the urge to fidget!

## CPM 20CV steel blade

The blade is made from CPM 20CV steel. It is one of the most popular types of steel at the moment because it retains its sharpness for a really long time. It is also stainless and easy to sharpen. This version of the Malibu has a stonewashed finish. This finish is great at hiding traces of use.

## Aluminium handle

The handle is made of lightweight aluminium with a texture to provide good grip. The construction of the handle is also worth mentioning. It consists of two milled scales which connect to the spine of the handle. So no separate backspacer or stand-offs. This significantly reduces the number of parts and gives the knife a sleek look.

You carry the Pro-Tech Malibu with the deep carry pocket clip. A clever detail is that the part of the handle under the pocket clip is flat. It doesn't have a texture like the rest of the scale, so your trousers will stay intact when you put the knife into your pocket or take it out of your pocket.

Have been looking for one of these for ages and eventually it's available in the UK. So, I didn't think about it and ordered one. 

It's very well made, light, made from good quality steel, figitable and way too expensive. 

American reviewers have bemoaned the price in the US rising to $200. Over £300 is so steep it's vertical for what is essentially the base Malibu model. 

If you just have to see what all the hype is about, don't hesitate. If you like good value for money, look elsewhere. My Spyderco Smock although still expensive, gives me the same result for over £100 less.
