This **Wüsthof Ikon double serrated bread knife 23 cm** can definitely be called an iconic cutting tool. This relatively exclusive Wüsthof collection is mostly characterized by the remarkable handle material that is used. The handles are namely made from African Blackwood. This is incredibly valuable wood, that is mostly used to produce wooden instruments such as a oboes and clarinets. The grains in the wood make each product unique.

 Even though the handle is in this case the highlight of the knife it doesn't mean that no attention was paid to the blade. As the name already suggests the edge has double serrations. As such it will easily cut through the hardest types of bread. The difference with a bread knife with single serrations is immediately obvious. Because of the double serrations the knife will more easily 'take hold' of the bread. As such you are left with beautiful slices of bread, you don't have to apply as much pressure and you don't have to deal with the crumbs!

 As with all Wüsthof collections the blade is made from X50CrMoV15-steel, which is sharpened with laser-precision via the Petec method. A second advantage of the blade is the crop. This doesn't fully run up to the edge, but does clearly separate the handle from the blade. As such sufficient safety is provided, but you can still use the entire edge.


**Please note:**this knife has an unusual tip! The tip appears to be broken off or damaged but Wüsthof made it round for safety reasons. With a non-sharp tip you namely won't hurt yourself as easily.
