The **Hogue Deka** is a slender and lightweight pocket knife. It has a very high fidget factor thanks to Hogue's Able-lock. You won't be able to stop yourself opening and closing the blade. But of course, this knife is meant to be used. As you would expect from a Hogue, the handle is fine: excellent grip, and perfectly executed.




The Hogue Deka 24377, Flat Dark Earth Polymer, Magnacut Clip Point, pocket knife is a nice EDC pocket knife in the colour brown, dark earth, black. With its blade length of 8 cm, this knife is ideal for easy carrying. When closed, it's only 11 cm long, and it weighs 60 g.



Opening the Hogue Deka 24377, Flat Dark Earth Polymer, Magnacut Clip Point, pocket knife with one hand is very easy thanks to the thumb stud. Once opened, the sturdy Crossbar Lock ensures that the blade is locked and won't accidentally close during use. A cool feature of this lock is that it can be easily used by both left-handed and right-handed users.

The name 'Crossbar Lock' is a generic term for locks of this type. The foundation of this mechanism was the Axis Lock as developed by Benchmade. Today, several manufacturers happily make use of the same mechanism, though sometimes under different names.



## Blade made of CPM Magnacut steel
The blade of this Hogue Deka is made of CPM Magnacut steel, possibly the most revolutionary steel of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Since the release of CPM MagnaCut in 2021, it has become one of the most popular steels in the world of knives. The MagnaCut blade of this pocket knife measures 8 cm in length.

## History of CPM Magnacut 
This type of steel was developed by Dr Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist who has dedicated his career to improving knife steel. He is the son of Devin Thomas, a famous damascus smith who supplied Chris Reeve Knives with steel for many years. Dr Larrin Thomas works in the automotive industry but is passionate about knife steels. He thought it should be possible to do better, and together with Crucible Industries came up with CPM MagnaCut. This blade is finished with a Cerakote coating. This is a popular coating also used for engine parts, for example. It is a very ‘tough’ coating. It has good impact resistance. Traces of use are therefore less likely to show up. However, it is also only a thin layer: eventually, you will always see signs of use.



## Polymer handle
The handle of this knife is made of polymer. This is a family of strong plastics that includes several better-known names. It is generally hard-wearing, water-resistant and feels great in hand. Often, polymer handles are equipped with metal liners for additional strength.

Ein super Messer zu einem wirklich fairen Preis vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass hier hochwertiger Magnacut zum Einsatz kommt. In Sachen Preis Leistung ist das Deka für mich ein echtes Highlight und schlägt viele vergleichbare Modelle, die deutlich teurer sind.

Der Polymer Griff ist funktional und leicht, für den Alltag absolut ausreichend, aber für Sammler eher unspektakulär. Zum Glück gibt es tolle Aftermarket Optionen von Lex oder Flytanium, um das Messer optisch und haptisch aufzuwerten.

Ich selbst habe es mit silbernen Titan Griffen ausgestattet und in meine Vitrine gestellt jetzt ist es nicht nur ein Top-Performer, sondern auch ein echter Blickfang in meiner Sammlung.

Klare Empfehlung für alle, die ein modernes, leistungsstarkes Messer mit tollem Stahl suchen und das zu einem vernünftigen Preis.

Très léger avec une lame efficace 

Shockingly light in hand. The handle feels a little bit week. The blade is extremely sharp out of the box. The tip is pointy and the blade narrowing down towards it -like a dagger. When its folded as I push it I can feel a little play but after the agitation the tip adjust itself to the center. I like the deep pocket clip, it is very useful. I was thinking about to change the scales of the handle to alu but don't want to sacrifice the lightness -risking its No1 EDC pocket knife status in my collection.

Magnacut voor dezelfde prijs als een Benchmade Bugout. Ja, het is waar: de Hogue Deka concurreert direct met de Bugout. Ongeveer dezelfde afmetingen, ongeveer hetzelfde gewicht, ook een fijne korte deep-carry pocket clip. Maar, je krijgt een veel beter staal: CPM MagnaCut en het lemmet opent en sluit echt veel soepeler dan bij een Bugout. Zodra je de crossbar lock onthrendelt valt het lemmet soepel dicht in het handvat. Dat lukt je bij een Bugout alleen als je het scharnier bijstelt, maar dat veroorzaakt onherroepelijk horizontale speling in het mes! Ondanks dat dit mes betere materialen levert blijft mijn vorkeur uitgaan naar de Bugout omdat ik die mooier van vormgeving vind en ergonomisch iets lekkerder in de hand vind liggen. Neemt niet weg dat de Deka echt een absolute aanrader is!
