This **KA-BAR D2 Extreme Fighting Knife 1282** is based on the legendary KA-BAR 1317 USMC knife. And that knife was based on the 1217: one of the most popular knives of all times. In 1942 this knife was used by the United States Marine Corps as a standard fighting knife for the marines. With this knife KA-BAR offers an alternative for the military-oriented 1217 knife. It is great for hunting, camping and bushcraft purposes. The knife is big and feels very strong.


The handle is enhanced with protective parts to make sure you will never end up on the razor-sharp edge during heavy-duty use. The back of the handle is enhanced with a practical storage ring. The blade is made from D2 tool steel. This steel, however, is not corrosion-resistant. Fortunately the blade is enhanced with a black coating to make sure maintenance is a lot easier. The main advantage of D2 is that it is incredibly tough. The included plastic sheath offers you a comfortable and safe way of carrying the knife.

Een fors en kwalitatief goed, vaststaand mes. Voelt goed in de hand. Een dik stuk D2 staal wat vertrouwen geeft bij zwaardere taken. Enige minpunt is het slijpwerk vanaf de fabriek. Het mes was zeker niet vlijmscherp. Zelf heb ik het mes op 20° nageslepen en gestropt. Ondanks het naslijpwerk zou ik dit mes zeker aanraden. Het is het een prachtige vertaling van de klassieker gemaakt van beter materiaal.
