The **Civivi Exarch C2003** is a slim and light-weight EDC pocket knife. You hardly feel it in your pocket. Because of the deep-carry pocket clip it is located nice and deep in your pocket, very discrete. The hollow grind looks amazing. It is thin to make sure the Exarch is amazing to use.



You quickly open this knife with the front flipper. It is remarkable that Civivi enhanced this knife with ceramic ball bearings. A feature you often see on knives in a much higher price range. When opened the blade is locked by a solid liner lock. As such your fingers are safe when you use this knife.



## G10 handle


The handle is comprised of steel liners with G10 scales. A strong and light-weight material made from fibre glass and synthetic resin. The light texture feels great in hand and offers you enough grip.



## D2 steel blade


The blade is made from D2 steel. This is a tough type of steel that retains it sharpness well. You can easily sharpen it yourself which is great if you use it on a daily basis. Do, however, be careful with moisture and acids: D2 is not completely stainless. So clean the knife after use, especially when (fruit)acids, salt or moisture came into contact with the knife.

Geweldig mesje, mooi ontwerp zonder poespas en super scherp. Heb het graag op zak met die gave pocketclip waarmee het volledig in je broekzak zit.

Je souhaitais un front flipper pour changer et qui donne en plus une belle ligne. Ouverture et fermeture sans difficultés. C'est un beau couteau gentleman edc à un prix très correct. Très belle émouture de lame en acier d2.

Ce couteau répond exactement à mes attentes. Il est étroit, fin, assez léger, élégant, bien construit et il se fait très discret porté verticalement dans une poche de pantalon. Le clip est un poil trop nerveux (pas si facile d'y insérer le tissu épais d'un jean), mais en même temps c'est rassurant sur sa tenue. Le manche en G10 est mat et bien texturé et le grip en est assez bon. À la lumière et du fait de la texture, il se produit un effet moiré (stries en diagonales) sur le manche. Je ne suis pas sûr d'aimer mais c'est vraiment un détail.

Le mécanisme d'ouverture (frontflipper) permet de déployer la lame en un éclair en tenant le couteau à 2 mains. On peut également l'ouvrir tout aussi vite avec une seule main, mais si comme moi vous découvrez ce genre de mécanisme, cela demande un peu de pratique pour comprendre comme tenir le couteau : tranche du manche perpendiculaire à la paume, le couteau maintenu seulement avec l'auriculaire et l'annulaire (voire le majeur si vous doigts sont fins) en faisant en sorte qu'ils prennent appui sur le clip. Ainsi maintenu, la prise est bonne et le pouce peut exercer une pression franche sur le levier pour déployer la lame d'une seule impulsion. L'appui du pouce doit se faire sur l'angle du levier et s'exercer plutôt vers le haut et en diagonale. 

Une fois qu'on y arrive, c'est un geste très agréable à réaliser. D'autant plus satisfaisant que cela n'est pas à la portée du premier venu ^^

Concernant la lame, en sortie de boîte elle était tranchante comme un rasoir. Et l'acier D2 qui la compose étant particulièrement dur, ce tranchant devrait se conserver assez longtemps. Pour ce qui est de la forme de cette lame, je l'aurai préférée un peu plus du côté "sheepsfoot" (comme celle du superbe Kizer Feist), mais sa simplicité et son épure lui apporte un autre charme. Elle me plaît beaucoup également.

Grâce au roulement à billes, le mécanisme d'ouverture est très fluide. Mais une fois déployée, la lame n'a absolument aucun jeu (ni vertical, ni latéral) : c'est là encore une satisfaction pour qui sait apprécier les mécaniques précises et fiables.

Un petit bémol toutefois : sur l'exemplaire que j'ai reçu, la lame n'est pas parfaitement centrée quand elle est repliée. Mais bon : le défaut n'est pas très marqué et ça ne frotte pas pour autant sur le bord. Donc je m'en accommode...  Ce couteau me plaît tellement que je lui pardonne cette petite imperfection.

En résumé je trouve que le rapport qualité prix est très satisfaisant et que ce petit couteau élégant et discret est un EDC presque parfait.
