The **Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet bread knife** is an elegant, handmade bread knife. When you look at the knife you notice how the end of the blade slopes upward. Usually a bread knife has a relatively straight edge to cut even slices. The main advantage of this unique blade shape is the pointed tip. This is perfect for cutting through tough crusts. The rest of the blade is straight. Because the blade is 25 cm long, there is enough edge left to cut even slices of bread. This knife was made by hand in Espalion, France.

## Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet: stainless steel blade

The blade is made from stainless 12c27 Sandvik steel. A type of steel with a relatively high carbon content making the knife razor-sharp and rock-solid. Nevertheless, it isn't a steel that is prone to rust or ugly spots. In addition, you can also easily sharpen it yourself, if, after some time, the knife has lost some of its sharpness.

## Laguiole en Aubrac Gourmet: boxwood handle

Versatility is, of course, key, but design is also important. The handle is made from box wood. A light, tough type of wood that looks great and is highly resistant to moisture. Great for use in the kitchen. The handle is enhanced with additional decorations. The bolster, the part in between the handle and blade is nicely embellished and looks amazing. On top, you will find the characterizing Laguiole bee. The spine of the handle is embellished with file work that was applied by hand and the scales are attached with rivets. In the middle of the handle these rivets are shaped like a shepherd's cross. This cross refers to the legend of catholic shepherds who, during their crusades to Spain, wanted to pray far away from a church or chapel. They put the knife, with the cross facing forwards, in the ground to say a prayer.
