Opinel breaks 70 years of tradition with the **Opinel Néo6**: the first Opinel knife since 1955 to be equipped with the innovative Opiflex mechanism. The Néo6 is Opinel's response to increasingly strict knife legislation in Europe. Thanks to the Opiflex mechanism, the blade does not lock completely in the open position. The blade also has a rounded tip. This makes the Néo6 look less threatening and the knife more in line with modern laws and regulations.

## Why size No. 6?
For this Europe-friendly knife, Opinel chose the familiar No. 06 as a starting point. The 7 cm blade of the No. 06 complies with many legislations and is ideal for everyday tasks such as opening packages, cutting fruit or other minor cutting tasks. Size 06 is simply a perfect balance between portability and functionality. With a closed length of 9.5 cm and a weight of just 25 grams, it fits effortlessly into your pocket or bag.



The Opinel Néo6 Opiflex 003108 Stainless Steel, Black Walnut Wood, slipjoint pocket knife is a cool EDC knife in the colour black. With its blade length of 7.2 cm, this knife is suitable for daily cutting tasks. For example, opening boxes, peeling an apple, the odd job around the house: this pocket knife can do it all.



You open this knife using the 'nail nick'. This is a small groove in the blade that provides just enough grip to allow you to unfold the knife with both hands. The chosen locking mechanism is the Opiflex.

## The Opiflex: why Opinel believes this mechanism is the future
The Virobloc lock, invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, was a revolution in itself. The rotating metal collar allowed the blade to be locked in both the open and closed positions. Since 2000, it has been the standard for all Opinel pocket knives.

However, this Opinel knife features the Opiflex system: an upgraded variant the Virobloc. The Opiflex system uses a spring-loaded tab, which keeps the blade securely in place during use. It is an innovative approach that does not lock the blade, but still prevents it from closing accidentally, not unlike a slipjoint pocket knife. This offers benefits for the European market: as the knife lacks a full locking mechanism, it complies with increasingly strict knife laws in many European countries.



You open the Opinel with two hands. To make this easier, there's a nail nick which gives you a little extra grip using your fingernail. This pocket knife is not equipped with a full lock, only with a slipjoint mechanism. This provides some resistance to prevent the knife from snapping shut during normal use. However, if you press on the spine of the blade, the knife will shut.



## Blade made of stainless steel
The blade of this Opinel Néo6 is made of stainless steel. The manufacturer offers no further information on exactly which type of steel it is.



This knife has a convex grind. This is a special sharpening method where the side of the blade continues in one convex curve to a razor-sharp edge. This sharpening method is often applied by hand in the factory. The great advantage of a convex grind is that it offers the perfect balance between minimal cutting resistance and optimum strength of the edge. The blade of this knife is enhanced with a 'satin finish'. This is a chic and tasteful finish that is very popular.



## Opinel: knives from Savoy
