The **Reate New Torrent** is the second incarnation of the popular Reate Torrent. With this winner Reate features the latest techniques and improvements they have learned in recent years. The New Torrent feels even more 'complete' than its predecessor.

The Reate New Torrent is a sublime knife. The first thing you notice is the harpoon-shaped blade. The combination of the tough-looking blade and the tastefully milled handles with subtle light-blue hardware is very impressive. The pocket clip is enhanced with a mirror smooth, black ball. This is not only a nice detail, but also ensures that your trouser pockets do not wear out as quickly. 

The blade is made from RWL34 steel. The blade is enhanced with a fine satin finish and has fine jimping on the spine. The 'thumb stud' on the blade is not functional as a thumb stud because of the heavy detent. This detent ensures that the blade, with the help of the flipper, shoots from the handle. The thumb rest is not purely aesthetic, as it also functions as a stop-pin. This makes the construction of the locking mechanism even more stable, as it supports the stop pin on two sides of the frame. When opened, the blade is held in place by the frame lock. The frame lock is also enhanced with a steel insert that also functions as an overtravel stop. 

The titanium scales are lightly matted and have a very fine diagonal milled texture. The pivot is enhanced with a so-called 'pivot collar', a ring around the pivot. The pivot collar, like the blade, is enhanced with a satin finish. The screws are enhanced with a light blue anodized finish. We see the same colour when we look at the edges of the backspacer. You will also notice that the scales have been milled out where possible to save weight. 

The pocket clip is also amazing. The style is very similar to Todd Begg's 'ceramic ball bearing' pocket clip design. The mirror-smooth, black-coloured ball in the pocket clip makes your pockets less susceptible to wear and tear, as there is no texture that bites into the fabric of your pocket. 

The knife comes with a microfibre cloth, pouch, storage case and some replacement screws. So if you ever lose a screw during the assembly, you can easily replace it. It is clear that a lot of attention was paid to every possible detail. This is exactly what makes Reate knives to desirable.
