The **Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Salt, CPM MagnaCut Black DLC, Black G10 C81GMCBKP2** is a next-level version of the popular Paramilitary 2 with CPM MagnaCut steel. This version is part of Spyderco's famous Salt collection. This knife series consists of knives that are specifically designed for maritime purposes. Every single part, from the blade to the screws, is corrosion resistant.

## Spyderco Salt collection

The knives from the Spyderco Salt collection are the most stainless knives on the market. These knives are perfect when fishing, during a day at the beach or when enjoying a boat ride. Most of the knives from the Salt collection can be recognized by their bright-yellow handle. As such you can easily find the knife as you drop it in the water. They also have a grippy handle, so you have an excellent grip even in damp conditions.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Salt blade

The blade is made from CPM MagnaCut. Many feel this type of steel is 'perfect'. Quite the statement. We think they have a point. It is a stainless type of tool steel. With a comparable toughness and sharpness retention of carbon steels such as CPM-CruWear, CPM-4V and Vanadis 4. The corrosion resistance is also sublime. Better than the popular stainless types of steel such as CPM S110V, CPM S45VN and Böhler M390.

Its corrosion resistance is similar to the highly corrosion-resistant LC200N steel, a popular choice for the Salt series, although CPM MagnaCut steel does have better sharpness retention. That's why Spyderco chose this steel type to be an addition to the Salt collection. This variant of the Paramilitary 2 Salt has a black DLC coating, perhaps not necessary for the extra corrosion resistance, but aesthetically it's a cool addition.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Salt Compression Lock

The blade locks by means of the immensely popular Compression-Lock. It works as sort of a reverse linerlock. The controls are on the spine of the handle. The way it locks is also different. A linerlock, for instance, only falls against the blade. The lockbar of a Compression Lock falls into the cut-out in the blade and gets caught in between the blade and stop pin. As a result, it's one of the strongest locks on the market today.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Salt handle

The handle is made of G10, just like the standard version of the Paramilitary 2. Still, these versions are far from identical. Spyderco fitted this Salt version with a milled-out bi-directional texture. This texture gives a lot of extra grip in wet conditions, or when wearing gloves while working. The hardware (screws and pocket clip) are enhanced with a coating. As a result, these are completely corrosion resistant, just like the blade.

## Spyderco Paramilitary 2: an ergonomic success story.

The design of the Paramilitary 2 has its origins in its bigger brother: the Spyderco Military, developed by co-founder Sal Glesser and launched in 1996. Sal's vision of an ideal pocket knife for soldiers attracted not only soldiers but also a wide range of other users. The Paramilitary 2 quickly became one of the world's most iconic pocket knives. Spyderco intends for their knives to be used. And yet the Paramilitary 2 is amazing to look at too! The ergonomics are amazing. Designer Sal Glesser really knows what works and what doesn't, you can tell when you look at this successful model.
