Features of Tritium markers
Tritium is a radioactive form of hydrogen that produces light continuously inside a sealed glass tube. The amount of tritium is very small, and the light source is protected by the housing. This makes the markers maintenance-free and usable for years, with no battery, switch, charging or spare parts needed. They are waterproof and suitable for temperatures from -40 °C to 70 °C, even when submerged in water. Different colours make it easy to distinguish between equipment, locations or functions.
Knivesandtools Arc Marker MK2
The Knivesandtools Arc Marker MK2 is designed to make terrain features, safe passages and other locations visible in the dark. The tritium light source is visible to the naked eye from up to about 6 metres away. By partially covering the light source, you can limit the amount of visible light. The integrated hook makes the marker easy to attach or hang up, and also helps you pull it out of the ground. A fluorescent area makes the marker easier to find during the day or with a head torch or torch.
Knivesandtools Bivvy Zip Marker
The Knivesandtools Bivvy Zip Marker helps you find zippers and attachment points easily in the dark. The compact split ring makes it easy to attach to a tent, bag or other equipment. The tritium glow is visible to the naked eye from up to about 10 metres away.
Knivesandtools MiniGlow Marker
The Knivesandtools MiniGlow Marker is the smallest marker in this product family. You can easily attach it to a set of keys, backpack, jacket zipper or tent, for example. The sturdy stainless steel attachment and maintenance-free tritium technology make it suitable for years of use.
Tritium Markers: always glowing, no batteries needed
As tritium decays, it emits beta particles. This radiation has so little energy that it cannot penetrate the housing, a sheet of paper or human skin. The tritium is contained in a sealed GTLS light source (Gaseous Tritium Light Source), with a lifespan of 10 to 15 years from the date of manufacture. You can determine this date from the batch number on the packaging. If the light source breaks, the released gas then quickly disperses into the atmosphere. The markers are intended only for safety and marking purposes and must not be disassembled.
