Dutch Ovens: traditional cast-iron pans
A Dutch Oven is a cast-iron pan you can do almost anything with in terms of cooking methods and heat sources. Use the pan in the oven, on the barbeque or over an open flame. A Dutch Oven without feet can also be used on the stove. However, a Dutch oven with feet cannot be used on, for instance, induction hobs. You can use it to bake, roast, fry, stew and grill. A proper Dutch Oven comes with a lid with raised edges and enough room for coals. With this method you can turn the pan into an oven to prepare the most delicious pizzas, breads, pies and casseroles. All in the same pan!
The Dutch Oven comes in different shapes and sizes. There are, for instance, pans with and without feet. Round or oval. Varying from 3 to 21 litres.
