EKA Knives: Swedish quality for EDC use

EKA from Sweden has built up a good reputation amongst, for example, hunters because these knives combine an attractive price with the three basic requirements each EKA-knife has to meet: the steel has to be of high quality.

Think of Sandvik 12C27. Secondly the steel has to be hardened at least until a hardness of 57-59 HRC. And further the blade has to be sharp and strong. In order to achieve this, the knives are sharpened under a 40 degree angle. These characteristics and a number of unique models, such as the Swingblades, explain the popularity of EKA especially amongst hunters.

An extremely long tradition

The concept apparently works because the history of EKA dates back to 1882. The factory is located in the city of Eskilstuna, also sometimes referred to as the knives-capital of Northern Europe. The region has had more and less prosperous times. After the dust of history was settled, the largest knives factory of the region stood up proudly thanks to modernisation and well-chosen models: EKA.

Handles of wood and plastic

Most knives are available with handles of plastic and wood. The plastic feels really soft. This is extremely comfortable and offers a lot of grip, also under wet circumstances. You can choose for black or more striking colours such as orange. For the fans of natural materials, the wooden versions are available. Although these lack the softness of the plastic they fit the hand perfectly. Finger-grooves and ripples ensure the grip.
